Channel Rules

RULES
The chat in War Time TV is a social affair – intended for friendly interaction between friends.

It’s not a platform for heated debates between members about which country committed the most atrocities, racial slurs or comments, religious or political arguments, nor any topic that is upsetting to a fellow chat member.

The following rules must be followed by all chat members:
The above topics are absolutely off-limits as well as ANY commentary that upsets or offends another chat member.
Filthy language or vulgar name-calling will not be tolerated, and the offender will be sanctioned immediately.
Posting links to ads for products, services. porn sites, or to other on-line TV sites will not be allowed.
Prior to posting a link, describe it, and ask a Moderator for permission.
While there is a fair bit of latitude given in this channel, if a Moderator (or even another chat regular) asks you to drop or change a topic, you must end it immediately, and with no “parting shots” about it.
Running arguments will not be tolerated. If a member feels so passionately about responding to comments made by others, pursue it in meboo or private message – don’t subject other chat members to your dispute or venting.
Failure to immediately cease or change a topic will result in sanctions by Moderators – anywhere from being warned, to being timed out, to having your chat cleared, to being banned, depending on severity or persistence.
If a chat member must be banned, her/his only recourse is to contact the Broadcaster and appeal to have it removed

Persons in chat are part of a social group, and are expected to be friendly to each other. As such, the above rules should not even have to be stated. However, if persons cannot intelligently respect the rules (and as such, their fellow chat members), sanctions will be applied.

MOD Rules

The role of a Moderator – do’s/don’ts:
is to assist the Broadcaster in maintaining a convivial atmosphere in the chat.
Chat is a social group who chose the topics they wish to talk about. It’s not the role of the Mod to control or form the topics to be discussed – except for those mentioned in chat rules.
It is even more important that Moderators follow chat rules, and don’t use their immunity to break them. Beyond that, Moderators are welcomed to enjoy and join the chat in the same manner as any registered viewer.
It may have an element of prestige, but it comes with some responsibilities – mainly to keep the playlist updated, and to bring an immediate stop to unacceptable comments, disputes, or behavior.

How to deal with problems chatters:
In the event of a troll entering and just posting filthy language and/or vulgarities – immediate ban.

How to deal with regulars who are exhibiting unacceptable behavior or are in conflict with another regular:
The first order of business is to put an immediate end to the topic, advising the party(ies) that no parting shots or further discussion will be allowed. Ending the topic in dispute is the key element.
If the party(ies) persist, a warning(s), clear the text, give a Time Out(s), and finally a ban if the individual simply refuses to heed warnings from Moderator(s). it should be at a Moderator’s discretion as to how many warnings, TO’s, chat clears, or finally ban s/he wishes to use – tempered by how bad the issue is and how long the member has been in chat. However, it really should not be dragged out for very long at all as escalation will occur.
Trying to discuss the issue will only escalate things – and if it is unacceptable or causing disruption, it simply doesn’t matter what the issue is. It simply needs to be stopped immediately!
Mods need to demonstrate a united effort to simply cease the topic immediately.
There is no profit in trying to explain one party’s grievances to another as it can easily cause regulars (or even Mods) to join in and even take sides – or at least appear to take sides. If the party(s) have the balls and want to keep on, there is nothing stopping them from carrying it on in meebo or private messages.
Refusing to comply with Mods is simply insulting or disrespectful to Mods, other chat members, chat rules, and Moggy – and why the hell should others in chat be subjected to one or two individual’s negativity and disruption…?
A reasonable amount of latitude should be allowed, and a Moderator should monitor her/himself to avoid being too heavy-handed – or impatient because they don’t personally like the topic or the chat member.
